VH1 (Video Hits One) is an American basic cable and satellite network. It was created in 1985, to capitalize on the increasing popularity of the music video.VH1 is broadcast across the nation, and available in HD and online. Owned by Viacom, VH1 is a sister network to MTV. While initial programming focused on exclusively the music video, today’s VH1 features primarily reality television and live talk shows. Catering to teen audiences and young adults 18-35, VH1 is a pop culture, music, and Hollywood authority. The network keeps viewers up to date with online articles dishing the latest movie and music news, and keeping an active presence on social media.
VH1 began with an exclusive lineup of music videos. The network focused on contemporary, classic rock, and pop music, catering to a more mature audience.
