TBS is an American cable and satellite network also available online. It is available across the United States. A descendent of the Atlanta, Georgia public access channel WRJR-TV, TBS has undergone many identities as a station since its official christening in 1976. First broadcasting sitcoms acquired from other networks, professional sports, then integrating films, TBS know considers itself to be a network authority on funny, echoed in its slogan, “We’re Comedy.”
In its early years, TBS made a name for itself by picking up the discontinued sitcoms from other networks. Fans of “Leave it to Beaver,” and “The Andy Griffith Show,” could watch reruns of their favorite shows even after they had been discontinued. With the goal of creating a general entertainment channel, TBS continued to experiment with offerings to find its niche. With strong ties to Atlanta, TBS also broadcast Atlanta Braves games and other Atlanta professional sporting events. Now, showing a mix of new and old sitcoms, movies, and some original programming, TBS has grown to become one of the most popular cable networks on television, with a viewership of 1,876,000 in 2015.TBS is known to be the place to go for viewers to watch older comedy favorites, like “Friends,” “Seinfeld,” “King of Queens,” and “Married…with Children.” Newer shows, like “New Girl,” and “Two Broke Girls” are available to watch on TBS throughout the year.
